Heyoka's Song
My horse walks backwards, My moon rises at noon, My night is milky white. Wind is my steadiness. If you give me your heart, I will wear it upside down On the sleeve turned inside out. There is no heart for me. If you tell me your secret I will tell it to the mountains For everyone to hear. There are no secrets for me. On the wedding days I paint my face with funeral ashes, I dance on the fresh graves of my friends. There is no family for me. Yet I can promise you Spring among the snows, Flowers in the desert, Seas of cold fire under my skin. August 4th, 2004
